Ever felt like you’re drowning in laundry?

No more!

Today is the day of redemption!

Set aside one day to conquer the laundry and take back your home!

Start by running a load of laundry through the washing machine. That’s it, just go do this one task. I don’t care if the lights and darks are separated or if a towel slipped into the load, just go run it.

Doesn’t it feel good to put a dent in that mountain?

While the washer is running, start to sort through the rest of the rubble. Is there any clean clothes ready to be folded? Fold them. Are there clean clothes already folded just laying around? Put them away. Do you have shirts that look wrinkled? Put them away and deal with them later, we’re moving mountains today.

Fold and put away as much laundry as you can while you wait for your wash to finish. Switch it to the dryer and proceed to phase 2.

While your clothes are drying, sort through the rest of the dirty laundry. Make four or five piles: delicates and underwear, lights, darks, towels.

I wash my delicates separately in a very gentle wash with light detergent and no bleach.

I put socks, underwear, workout attire, undershirts and sports bras in a heavier load with stronger detergent and a splash of vinegar in the rinse cycle.

Wash the lights and darks as you normally would.

Run towels through a HOT rinse cycle with 1 or more cups of vinegar to strip off that crusty residue. When your towels come out of the dryer they will feel as soft and good as new!

In between washing and drying, have a seat and put your feet up. Don’t feel guilty for needing a break. Yes, there’s a lot to do and catch up on. Yes, you let it get this far. But hey, it happens to the best of us.

Good luck conquering your laundry!
